Hi, I’m Amanda! 👋 I’m a wet lab biologist-turn-computational biologist (see my resume) excited about data storytelling. Welcome to digital garden where I share what I’ve been up to!
“Tangential Almond” reflects my name — Amanda (which sounds like the French word for almond) — and my explorations that play on the phrase “going off on a tangent”. Tangential Almond is a platform for me to spend time writing about what I’ve been up to and reflecting on it.
Personally, writing helps me to organize my thoughts and is a self-reflective tool that helps me find holes in my understanding. By writing about what I’ve been up to, I aim to present my explorations into narratives that turn what I learnt/experienced into easier-to-remember tales.
I’ve also intentionally made Tangential Almond public. My explorations often go into areas I’m less familiar with, if you spot any errors or would like to give constructive feedback, please drop me an email.

Who is this Digital Garden for?
To be honest, I don’t quite know yet. I’ll be writing about my various explorations on Tangential Almond. The posts I have in mind currently will focus on coding projects and/or what I learnt about coding. I’m also planning to broaden my experience with bioinformatics so you might see some posts on data science applications in biology.
In other words, the identity of this Digital Garden will be quite fluid.
